"Bear Paw Beauty Queen" by Gina Stonecircle
Meet the Bear Paw Beauty Queen — a life-size driftwood cow skull inspired by a very pretty, very cranky cow from the Bear Paw Mountains of Montana. She is inlaid with turquoise, pink opal, black onyx, and chrysocolla, and crowned with stunning hand-forged steel horns. Her crowning glory? A cluster of forged steel roses — each one an exact reproduction of the Harrison’s Yellow Rose, better known as the Yellow Rose of Texas.
This rose carries a remarkable piece of American history. It traveled west with settlers along the Oregon Trail — carried in wagons and sewn into women’s skirts so that as they walked, the dew would keep the roots alive. Today it can still be found blooming on homesteads across the West.
Bold, beautiful, and steeped in Western legacy — the Bear Paw Beauty Queen is truly one of a kind.
